What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixels. Some are set by us; others may be set by providers that help us run auth, hosting, payments, email, or analytics.

Your cookie choices

On first visit we show a consent banner with two choices:

• Accept all — essential cookies plus product analytics (when configured).
• Essential only — sign-in, security, locale/currency preferences, and access gates only. Analytics stays off.

You can change your mind anytime via the Cookie settings button in the site footer, which reopens the same banner.

We store your choice in a first-party cookie named ib_cookie_consent with the value all or essential. It lasts up to 365 days, uses SameSite=Lax, and on production invoicebeaver.com hosts is scoped to .invoicebeaver.com so www and app share one preference. Clearing site cookies or choosing again updates it.

Essential cookies

Required for authentication, security, and core product operation. Examples include Supabase session cookies that keep you signed in, CSRF/security cookies, and cookies that enforce site access gates (such as coming-soon preview access). Without these, sign-in, account security, and basic navigation may fail. Essential cookies run regardless of the analytics choice above.

Preference cookies and local storage

We may store locale/language, currency display preferences, and similar settings in cookies or localStorage so InvoiceBeaver stays in your language and preferred format across visits.

Analytics cookies

When you choose Accept all and product analytics is enabled (for example PostHog), we may use analytics cookies or similar storage to understand feature usage, diagnose errors, and improve InvoiceBeaver. Analytics is used to improve the product — not to sell your client or invoice data or build third-party advertising profiles from your business records. If you choose Essential only, we do not load analytics.

Payments and third parties

Payment providers (for example Stripe) and other vendors listed in our Privacy Policy may set their own cookies when you check out, manage billing, open a pay link, or load their widgets. Those cookies are governed by the provider's policies as well as ours.

How long cookies last

Session cookies expire when you close your browser (or when the session ends). Persistent cookies and localStorage entries remain until they expire, you clear them, or you sign out where that clears session data. Exact durations depend on the cookie and browser. Consent (ib_cookie_consent) lasts up to one year unless you change it sooner.

Managing cookies

Use the controls below (or Cookie settings in the footer) to choose Accept all, Essential only, or reopen the banner. You can also refuse, delete, or block cookies and site data in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other core features. Clearing site data for invoicebeaver.com resets the preference.
